How the Plasmodium gene cards break down across species and against other organisms, how many carry a literature annotation, and what the extracted findings and compute spend look like.
| Species | Cards | Annotated |
|---|---|---|
| Pf3D7 | 706 | 243 |
| PbANKA | 654 | 68 |
| PkH | 634 | 49 |
A card groups one gene's loci across P. falciparum (Pf3D7), P. berghei (PbANKA) and P. knowlesi (PkH) by OrthoMCL ortholog group. Single-species cards are not all species-specific genes: they include paralog copies and gene models from separate species annotations. rRNA copies are split out because the genome carries many rRNA loci and far more of them have literature than other single-species cards. Annotated = at least one finding from the reading pass.
A link is a confident one-to-one ortholog by reciprocal best hit: Toxoplasma gondii ME49 and the human proteome. Both are computed mainly from the Pf3D7 gene: of the 1,426 cards without a Pf3D7 locus, 29 have a Toxoplasma link and 12 a human link. No confident 1:1 link means no such match was found — not that the gene is unique to Plasmodium.
Assigned per-finding by the reading pass from method tier and weight of evidence. High = direct biochemical/structural/genetic proof; Low = single-paper observational claim.
≥ 2020: 3,229 findings (29.7% of dated).
